Serial Conman Targeted Elderly
Saturday October 16, 2004
A serial conman who stole $61,500 from people he met through retirement homes and church told police he chose elderly victims because they were "easy targets", a court heard yesterday.
Allan John Quinn talked senior citizens into handing over their bank books and also convinced one to lend him money for a bogus debt, between March 1997 and April 1998. About the same time, Quinn committed similar frauds on elderly residents in NSW and Queensland, netting more than $400,000.
